It was 1987 when the first Nightstop scheme was set up in Leeds. The fact that Nightstop UK is engaged week-by-week providing support and advice to groups across the UK to address the need for emergency accommodation in their communities for 16 - 25 year olds cannot be ignored.
The evidence is that the levels of youth homelessness remain unacceptably high; and that the Nightstop model of work is an appropriate response to the situation in many communities.
Our Purpose
Nightstop UK believes:
that all young people have the right to access safe, secure accommodation that is appropriate to their needs.
Nightstop UK aims to achieve this through:
Increasing awareness at local and national level of the problem of homelessness among young people
Endeavour to inform and influence public policy on youth homelessness.
Providing information, guidance, training and support to local people enabling them to set up their own Nightstops.
Encouraging local Nightstop schemes as members of Nightstop UK to help in the development and running of the organisation.
Responding effectively to changes in the nature of the problem.
With your support we can continue to keep homeless young people off the streets by providing safe, secure overnight accommodation free of charge.
