Carmarthenshire Nightstop

Carmarthenshire launch

Carmarthenshire Nightstop is based in the town of Carmarthen and is an excellent example of partnership working. Carmarthenshire County Council and Tai Trothwy are working together to develop the first Nightstop scheme in South Wales.

The scheme, launched in November 2005 is currently recruiting volunteer hosts to provide emergency accommodation for homeless young people throughout the County of Carmarthenshire.

Ynys Môn Nightstop

DYM

Digartref Ynys Môn service users on an expedition

Digartref Ynys Môn is a Supported Housing Project based in Anglesey (Ynys Môn) to provide the relief of young homeless or threatened homeless people (aged 16-25) and to offer them personal support in their areas of need. Within a stable environment we aim to provide these young people with confidence, knowledge, skills and opportunities required in order to take control of their own lives and live independently.

The organisation has five main objectives for its work:

·To provide supported accommodation (an 8 bedded hostel and 2 shared on site bungalows) for homeless young people.

·To provide a resettlement service accessing move-on properties with floating support to assist young people to maintain their own tenancies.

·To provide information and advice for potentially homeless young persons.

·To work in partnership with statutory agencies to create awareness of homelessness and promote initiatives to alleviate homelessness and tackle social exclusion.

·To develop and implement an island-wide strategy to extend the reach of the project and help alleviate homelessness on Ynys Mon.

Digartref Ynys Mon intends to set up and develop a Nightstop project on the island to alleviate the use of bed and breakfast facilities for young people who are on the waiting list to access the project or have been referred and are waiting to be interviewed.
